Shortly after releasing my blog attack on you all, a few members of FARA (The Friedreich’s Ataxia Research Alliance) reached out to me after reading my first barrage of tweets. As I’ve shared in a few posts (primarily in the post “You are now clear, to hold.“), I have ataxia, like Friedreich’s Ataxia, but not quite Friedreich’s Ataxia. After further research and networking, this feels like a fitting community to really throw my support behind.
Turns out, they are putting on a fundraising event in Portland, Saturday night, March 7th, the Cure Us Dinner and Auction at the McMenamins Crystal Ballroom. With Greta and I trying to make it to RideAtaxia NorCal, we decided that while we would like to go to this upcoming CureUsPDX event, we really couldn’t afford attending. This weekend I woke up to a message on the ever present Facebook, from Michelle, the organizer of the event, asking if we would like to and could go, and that they had two tickets available to sponsor our attendance!
Speechless, that is all. Greta and I are excited to attend this event, supporting, what I see, to be a very good organization. We all have financial obligations, so please don’t over-extend yourself, but if you have been looking for a worthy charity, I think this is extremely worthwhile, the registration for this specific event closes Monday, March 2 (next week!), so you’ll have to hurry to catch this one.
Hopefully in the next week or two we’ll be able to finalize a couple budget items and open up a portal for our road trip to RideAtaxia NorCal, May 30th!
Stay tuned, and thank you all, for your support, of every kind.
