Honestly, I can’t remember actually learning how to swim. Sure, there were swim lessons in grade school, but I’m pretty sure that I had figured out how to not drown before then. Water has always been comfortable for me, well, maybe not completely when paddling a very tippy kayak, but that too wasn’t so bad after I’d gone over a couple times and figured out I could in fact dump out quite easily.
My focus lately has been the trike riding, I’ve neglected my lap swimming, since my lumbar fusion in 2012. I’m not always good with moderation, and most every time I tried returning, my back seemed to become more aggravated (turns out I have a few loose screws, and will likely need to have a 2nd surgery at some point). It’s time to work this back into my routine, I’ve gotten in a couple swimming sessions over the last couple of months with no noticeably increase in my back pain, and tonight, well, those trike miles feel like they are paying off!
